Vietnam Industrial Parks Attract $52B in FDI So Far
Industrial parks (IP) in Vietnam have to date licensed 3,841 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects totaling $52 billion, including $3.48 billion in the first eight months of this year.
Foreign investors have disbursed $16.06 billion in the Vietnam IPs so far, accounting for 31% of total pledged capital, the Khu Cong Nghiep Vietnam (Vietnam IPs) magazine reported.
The local IPs have licensed 4,617 domestically-invested projects worth VND305 trillion ($15.64 billion) so far. Of the sum, VND124.4 trillion has been disbursed.
The Southeast Asian country is now home to 254 IPs covering a combined area of 68,800 hectares, including 18 newly-established ones between January and August.
To date, 171 Vietnamese IPs covering 43,375 hectares have become operational and 83 others are still under construction.
The nation aims to build 106 IPs covering 50,000 ha and expand 26 others between now and 2020. The IPs are expected to license around 6,800 projects capitalized at $50 billion, creating 2.2 million jobs in the next ten years. (Vietnam IPs)
