Germany Expects to Raise Investments in Vietnam Next Years: Official
Germany now ranks the 22nd among foreign investors in Vietnam and expects to increase its investments in the country in the coming years, Ambassador Rolf Schulze said.
He made the statement at the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Germany in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept 30, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said Friday.
About 120 German companies will visit the Southeast Asian country next month to seek investment opportunities, especially in new energy, bio-technology and information technology, he added.
The official committed that the European country will continue providing aid for Vietnam in the future, aiming to help the latter to cope with climate change, environment protection and energy.
Germany has pledged a total EUR1 billion in ODA for projects in Vietnam since 1990. It pledged EUR137 million in aid for Vietnam in 2010, accounting for 12.7% of EU’s total aid for the Southeast Asian nation this year.
As of Aug 20, German companies invested $809.52 million in 154 projects in total in Vietnam. (Kinh te Vietnam & The Gioi Oct 1 p4, Cong An Nhan Dan Oct 1, p15)
