A delegation of seaport operators from the U.K. will visit Vietnam on Oct 4-6 to introduce their advanced technologies and seek investment opportunities in the latter.

The mission will include the U.K. leading companies engaging in seaport management and development, seaport infrastructure, equipment supply for maritime, financial and training consultancy.

These companies will meet officials from Vietnam seaport management agencies to seek more information on situation and development of the Vietnam’s sector on Oct 4. They also plan to attend a seminar on U.K.-Vietnam seaport partnership in Hanoi on Oct 5.

Vietnam has over 100 ports of different kinds, including 39 seaports; however, it sees redundancy of small ports but shortage of large-scale ones. The country is calling more investments to develop its port system.

Companies from the U.K. have to date invested $2.22 billion in 134 projects in Vietnam, ranking the 17th among investors making direct investment in the country. They target to raise direct investment in Vietnam to $3 billion by 2013. (www.vietnamplus.vn) )
