Inspiring Companies to Pursue Sustainable Development
With a view to review and evaluate the five-year implementation of the Sustainable Development Orientation Strategy in Vietnam, and discuss and approve the draft Sustainable Development Strategy Framework for the period from 2011 to 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan will preside over the third National Conference on Sustainable Development slated for opening on October 16, 2010 in the capital city of Hanoi.
Earlier, effectuating the Government’s guidance concerning the opening of the aforesaid conference, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will host a Business Forum on Sustainable Development under the theme of "Inspiring and strengthening the participation of stakeholders in the process of pursuing sustainable development” on October 15, 2010 in Hanoi.
The forum aims to assess the participatory role and status of enterprises in the process of implementing sustainable development in Vietnam and propose recommendations to strengthen the participation of enterprises in the implementation of sustainable development in the country.
Opinions collected at the forum will be generalised and reported to the general assembly of the third National Conference on Sustainable Development. The forum will be chaired by leaders of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade and attended by representatives from concerned ministries, the Vietnam Small and Medium Enterprises Association, domestic and foreign companies, and international institutions.
