Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) will open a forum to call for more investments into the northwestern region in Yen Bai province on December 10.

Around 600 domestic and foreign delegates, including Japan, South Korea, the U.S. and EU, are expected to attend the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong will preside over the forum which will report on the region’s socio-economic situation, and economic and investment potential.

It will also focus discussion on key projects which will promote investment and socio-economic development in the region.

The first forum in 2008 resulted in investment certificates being granted to 13 projects and 10 others nearly $3 billion being signed in the fields of agriculture, forestry, mineral processing, and hydroelectricity. (MPI, VoVnews)
