Vietnam Ha Long Bay Named in Top Ten Sailing Cruise Worldwide
The U.S. National Geographic online magazine has listed Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay as sixth in world’s top ten sailing cruise.
In its introduction, the National Geographic says Ha Long Bay, or the Bay of the Descending Dragon, in northeastern Vietnam, is scattered with some 3,000 precipitous, strangely sculpted limestone islands and outcrops, and dotted with small floating villages and deserted sandy beaches.
In spring and early summer the water is particularly calm and clear. This UNESCO World Heritage site is best explored by a cruise on a junk.
Ha Long Bay has been also previously listed in the world’s top ten sailing cruise by the Lonely Planet Magazine.
At present, there are some 500 tourist boats in Ha Long, with millions of domestic and international visitors flocking to the Bay every year.
Other places in the list are Nova Scotia, Labrado (Canada); Sann Juan (Washington); Grand Cayman; Polynesia (France); Andaman (Thailand); Seychelles, Hormuz (Oman); Lamu (Kenya) and Evia (Egypt). (New Hanoi)
