HCM City Passes Master Plan for Socio-economic Development
The People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City summoned a plenary meeting to discuss the master plan for socioeconomic development to 2020, with a vision to 2025. The overall goal of the master plan is to build HCM City into a modern metropolis with a special role in the country’s industrialisation and modernisation cause, gradually into a centre of economics, finance, trade, science and technology of Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The city is expected to play an active role in turning Vietnam into a modern industrialised country by 2020.
The city strives to achieve annual GDP growth of 10 - 10.5 percent from 2011 to 2015, 9.5 - 10 percent from 2016 to 2020, and 8.5 - 9 percent from 2021 to 2025.
