The on-time completion of CT1-CT2 high rise twin towers project (Green Park Tower) in Cau Giay district, Hanoi, by the Constrexim Housing Development and Investment Joint-Stock Company (Constrexim - HOD), especially the sale of a total of nearly 400 high-quality apartments, is symbolic of overcoming the “freeze” currently overshadowing the Vietnamese property market. On the occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day (October 13) and Thanh Giong Cup 2013 award to honour business persons with excellent achievements, Vietnam Business Forum interviewed Mr Nguyen Duc Cay, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Constrexim - HOD. Le Sang reports.
So far, Constrexim - HOD has received admiration from your partners and clients. According to you, what is the guideline for the development of Constrexim - HOD?
Investment in real estate is a complicated business activity which needs proper market assessment and appropriate investment solutions, which means not spreading investment, not investing outside the core sector or investing unprofessionally following the trend. Sound investment means investing within the company’s financial capability, avoiding improvisation while doing investment and trade. Constrexim - HOD’s lodestar for its work is ‘all for product quality, all for consumers’. It’s a fact that today's customers are harder and harder to please, they understand their rights of choosing good products and services worth their money. Constrexim - HOD, therefore, always consider customers’ confidence its first priority. In other words, we hold in our interest and respect the confidence of customers, contractors and partners.

2013 has been a difficult year for the business in Vietnam, but like the saying "every cloud has a silver lining", as the head of the company, what have you been doing to develop Constrexim - HOD?
Difficult times still can present opportunities for those who choose the right direction in investment and business. Constrexim - HOD always tries to stay one step ahead every business and investment opportunities, especially in real estate. However, that is easier said than done, especially in the current situation, staying ahead but on the right track, catch the right direction requires businesses certain capabilities.

Can you tell us some of the key contents in the development strategy of Constrexim - HOD for the coming time?
Our Management Board is determined to act within the company’s capability when it comes to real estate investment. Constrexim - HOD will stay faithful to the path it has chosen, also the sector where it has strength, to continue making effort to overcome difficulties, raising prestige and maintaining products’ quality staying true to the company’s motto. For the next 3 - 5 years, Constrexim - HOD has set our objective as increasing the development speed ratio 1.5 - 2 times higher.

Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day (October 13) and Thanh Giong Cup 2013 awardsare to honour outstanding leaders with excellent performance in steering enterprises overcoming the difficulties of current economy. What is your opinion about this concept?
The role of a business person may be compared to a ship captain responsible for steering a business to success. Businessmen are the backbone forces when it comes to contribution to the country's economy, therefore should be recognised by the State as well as respected and honoured by society. Today, the role and standing of businessmen has gradually been recognised, but somewhere in the perception of a small part of society, they still have not got the sympathy and support that they deserve.

As part of the Vietnamese business community, I wish for the state’s support so that we can realise our dream of innovation, integration and rightful enrichment.
Regarding policies, the state should create favourable conditions within the legal framework for business operating effectively, because the current policies still have some draw-backs hindering the development of businesses and businessmen. In my opinion, every businessman has pride in their nationality, hunger for fair recognition of their efforts and they, no one else, will take the image of Vietnam to the world, at a level that can compete with advanced economies.

The State should understand this, at the same time realise that for businessmen to perform their role effectively, it’s crucial to quickly remove barriers of administrative procedures, building consistent policies which enable business and businessmen’s development. I, as well as many other true businessmen, sometimes get self-conscious while doing business because we feel like beggars dealing with administrative procedures. Especially when our activities are constantly contributing to the development of production and the society.

Hopefully, we businessmen will soon be welcoming and benefiting from dynamic and efficient policies.
