Strengthening Investment Promotion

 

With the assigned tasks, over recent years, the DOTIP has actively advised the PPC on promotion of trade, tourism and investment mobilization. By collaborating with departments, agencies and localities, the Centre has implemented several programs of collaborated promotion achieving positive results, bringing tangible benefits to the business community and boosting investment in Dong Thap province. Typically, in 2013, the Centre organized as well as supported participation for many trade promotion programs with funding up to VND 4.5 billion, bringing efficiency to provincial business community; successfully organizing the investment promotion conference with the conclusion of 13 memorandum of investment cooperation; directly contacting the Embassies of Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Nigeria, and others; organizing trade promotion delegation combined with investment promotion activities in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia; jointly organising major events to promote the province's tourism. Thanks to those focused programs of investment cooperation and promotion, many businesses and investors have come to study the business and investment environment in Dong Thap, particularly businesses from Ho Chi Minh City, and a business delegation from Japan. More and more provincial businesses are strengthening and expanding business and investment, tourist arrivals is increasing substantially. Especially, the fact that the CPI index of Dong Thap has always been in the top spot of the country is a vivid demonstration of the significant improvement of the province's investment environment.

 

Dong Thap provincial authority has always taken the development of the business community, the economic growth and the improvement of the people’s income as measure of the efficiency of the executive leadership. That has been clearly shown through various trips to each individual business to help solve specific problems; seeking solutions for each problem in infrastructure, smoothing traffic conditions, of which the most significant result are businesses can perform import and export right in Dong Thap, even at their factories through using container terminals system and logistic services of the Saigon New Port Corporation.

 

Particularly in the work of businesses support, in addition to the policy of corporate support and market development which has been effectively deployed since 2005, the province has proactively associated with the business community to organize inspecting trips to foreign markets; organising trade exchanges between provincial enterprises and foreign businesses to seek new business opportunities, promoting the development of manufacturing, business and investment activities of businesses and investors.

 

With the “accompanying enterprises” policy, Dong Thap has also performed well in the administrative reform; investing and upgrading transport infrastructure; implementing services of system transportation, freight delivery; improving the quality of labour, vocational training system... Those are the important factors in creating preconditions for investors to implement new projects and expand investment scale in Dong Thap over recent years as well as for the time to come.

 

To be able to realise our role as support unit of businesses and investment mobilizing unit in the future, at the same time assisting the promotion of Dong Thap’s image, DOTIP will continue working closely with provincial businesses in looking for partners, promoting trade, expanding market, developing production and business. We will strengthen the link and cooperation with neighbouring provinces in the organization of trade fairs and big events; supporting enterprises in boosting electronic trading in the website www.dongthaptrade.com.vn to help businesses enhance e-commerce skills and improve competitiveness.

 

The Centre will also actively support businesses in participating in international events on tourism, thereby creating favourable conditions for the province's tourism businesses to create business connections and establish cooperation with foreign tour operators. We will step up the promotion of Dong Thap’s tourism image as well as tourism attractions to the world so that increase the number of tourists to Dong Thap. We will also encourage investment promotion activities to create big changes, bringing economic benefits to the province; in which focusing on the effective implementation of the “one-door” mechanism in performing procedures for investment projects outside industrial and economic zones and receiving feedbacks from businesses and investors; proactively connecting and meeting other departments and agencies to help investors implement projects as soon as possible.

 

Being fully aware of our role, the Centre will work harder to speed up administrative reform and the application of information technology in public administration, strengthening management staff. At the same time, we will also propose practical recommendations for improving the quantity and quality of training, deploying measures to support businesses, infrastructure investment and modernization of local logistic systems to meet increasing performance requirements from businesses and investors.
