Located in Hau Giang province, Bach My Body Wear Company is striving to overcome all difficulties to fulfil the targets and significantly contribute to the development of the province.
Vietnam Business Forum had a short conversation with Mr Yang Wen Ching, Head of Bach My Factory to better understand the recent performance of the company. Thanh Sang- Khanh Linh report.
Could you please introduce the operations of the company in recent years?
Bach My is specialised in the women's Body Wear and started official operation in April 2012, with 12 production lines (9 sewing lines of lingeries and 3 sewing lines of panties). The company has an average capacity of 90,000-100,000 pieces per month.

The main products of the company are luxury lingeries and the raw materials of the company are mainly imported from Taiwan and the the final products are exported to Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and others. In 2013, the company produced 500,000 lingeries and 300,000 panties. The number of the employees of the company is 360 as of July 2014.

What advantages and disadvantages do you face when participating in this business area?
The competitors in the body wear area are less than those in other garments because the technical requirements in body wear are higher than other garment sectors and the infrastructure is relatively complex. At the same time, workers in the province are dedicated to their work. They are all hard-working and committed to your work so the employee turnover rate is low. These factors are important to ensure the stability of human resources.

However, the company is also facing difficulties. For example, the technical requirement is high. The workers are low-skilled because they were previously farmers. Therefore, it is difficult to train employees and the language barrier is one main issue that raises many difficulties.

Many people think that it is difficult to control the market of smuggled goods, and poor quality goods in the body wear area, when the supply has not met the demand. What do you think about this situation?
This is one of the issues that presents difficulties to businesses in the industry. However, this depends on the policies and the recognition of each country towards the poor quality products and how to protect the interests of the producers. To keep the company's reputation, the branded company hardly reduces their products.

The lingerie industry is a sensitive industry that is influenced by trends and customers' tastes. Therefore, what strategies will your company propose to meet the needs of the consumers?
Currently, the infrastructure of the company has met the monthly production capacity so in the upcoming time, we will focus on increasing production capacity from 100,000 pieces per month to 120,000 pieces per month. Besides, the company focuses on training local employees as well as improving the skills of the labour force to meet the product quality and the company's production capacity in the future.

What social benefits is the company offering your workers?
Body wear is an essential needs of women so we just satisfy both the customers and the demands of the workers to guarantee our business sustainability.

In particular, the company always put the health issues and the safety of the working environment for the workers on top. In particular, the company has organised increasing shifts at night, not exceeding 20 hours per week, and helps workers flexibly select their right working shift.

How do you assess the investment environment of the province as well as the business support from the related agencies and departments during your business's involvement in the process of manufacturing?
In fact, Hau Giang province has a lot of potentials, thereby creating favourable conditions for businesses to invest in this area. Thanks to the incentives in attracting investment and the effective solutions of the local government, Hau Giang has become the promising province with vibrant economy and good investment destination for enterprises to operate and grow.

In addition, it is also a province with abundant labour source and the employees, once trained, contribute to the success and business development of the company.
