Casuco: Increasing Profits for Sugarcane Growers

Currently, Casuco has two sugar mills, namely Vi Thanh Sugar Mill and Phung Hiep Sugar Mill. After going public in 2005, the company’s performances have been improved year after year. The combined processing capacity of the two mills was increased to 6,500-7,000 tonnes of cane and the annual output was boosted to 90,000-100,000 tonnes. Employee incomes have also been significantly raised.

In addition to the two good-performing plants, Casuco also has Long My Seedling Centre and Hiep Hung Experimental Farm selecting and providing new high-yield sugarcane varieties, featured by higher sugar content, for Hau Giang province and other localities. Specially, the company always makes intensive investment, upgrades and modernises machines and equipment. It also applies advanced sciences and technologies to production to improve productivity and product quality while maintaining reasonable prices to ensure benefits for consumers.

 

Casuco always actively studies consumer tastes and trends to supply favourite products, improve product quality year after year, assert its position on the market and commitments to customers. To meet the demand for clean, safe and high-quality sugar, the company actively upgrades technologies, manufactures new products with higher standards than competitors to enhance the competitiveness and added value. Particularly, Con Kien-branded and Kim Cuong-branded white refined sugar have affirmed their names and hold big market shares in the Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region. With these successes, in 2013, Casuco inaugurated a new refined sugar production line with a daily output of 350 tonnes in Phung Hiep Sugar Mill and officially launched a new product line, called Hoa Mai-branded refined sugar. For the time being, Hoa Mai-branded refined sugar is receiving very positive feedbacks from the market.

 

In addition to efforts for better product quality, increasing profits for sugarcane growers and strengthening sugarcane grower - company ties is, at all times, the top priority in its sustainable development strategies. Casuco always provides capital and best sugarcane varieties for growers from the time of planting to the time of harvesting and transporting to refining mills. It also ensures the entire purchase of sugarcanes to ensure interests of growers. Before each sugarcane crop, the company always approves production and sales plans and puts forth guaranteed offer prices for farmers to assure them of stable future incomes and assist industry authorities to calculate their policies. Casuco Deputy General Director Nguyen Hoang Ngoan, an experienced expert in sugar industry, said that the sugar industry will continue facing difficulties in the future as now because sugar price is forecast to be on the fall. This will considerably affect operations of the company and livelihoods of farmers. To overcome such difficulties, he suggested Hau Giang province maintains policy supports for sugar companies and prevent unfair competition in sugarcane purchase to ensure healthy and sustainable development of sugarcane farming.
