The year 1996 was a decisive turning point in the development of Thang Long Metal Wares Company. Knowing that Honda (Japan) was seeking to invest in Vietnam and searching for strategic partners in Vietnam, with its experience and reputation, the company overcame other rivals to become a parts supplier for Honda. This was a new step in the process of international integration and cooperation and served as the leverage for its cooperation with foreign companies after that. To date, the company's main products include parts for Honda motorcycles namely Super Dream, Future, Wave, Airblade; saucepans, pans, knives, spoons, plates, oil stoves, lamps, parts for Sanyo washing machines, Goldstar and Shinil water pumps, interior decorative lights for Swedish IKEA Company.
The products are not only sold in the domestic market but also exported to Europe, Asia and Americas.
Thang Long Metal Wares Joint Stock Company also proactively seeks partners with capital and technology to set up joint ventures. The company joined hands with Honda and Goshi Niken (Japan) to set up Goshi - Thanglong Company specialised in manufacturing motorcycle and automobile parts.
Intensive investment for machinery and technology
Understanding the roles of technology and machinery in making the best products, Thang Long Metal Wares Company has boldly invested a lot in machinery and technology to upgrade and modernise its production capacity. For instance, the company purchased modern metal cutters with an annual output of 50,000 tonnes and hydraulic metal shapers. Modern machines not only enable the company to produce consumer goods and parts for motorcycles but also join automobile parts production chains. Its technology capacity not only to meets current production of consumer goods and motorbikes but also contributes to cars localisation. The company also applies welding technology and robotic devices other specialised automation technologies; coating painting, zinc plating, nickel plating technologies. The company has a factory equipped with CNC technology capable of producing various kinds of molds for production and new product development.
With closed technological lines operated under ISO 9001:2000 quality management systems, the company is currently capable of manufacturing more than 300 types of products. It has maintained an average annual growth rate of 10-30 percent. By investing in advanced, modern machinery, its stainless steel household products have been added to the list of key industrial products of Hanoi.
