Rice Exported to Mexico Imposed 20 Pct Tax

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam said the Government of Mexico has approved the resumption of 20 percent of import tax on rice which was scraped under the a trade agreement signed by two sides in 2007. From January 9, 2015, rice from Vietnam will be levied 20 percent of import tax instead of current 0 percent.

 

Mexico imported 65,000 tonnes of rice from Vietnam in the year to September 2014. Vietnam expected to ship 87,000 tonnes to Mexico in 2014. Currently, Vietnam has surpassed the United States to be the largest rice exporter in Mexico.
