Linkage for Economic Development
The Steering Committee for the Northwest and the Central Economic Committee in collaboration with Ha Giang province recently organised a workshop on Northeast and Northwest socioeconomic development connectivity.
Together with the conference on Ha Giang socioeconomic development in the landscape of cooperation with Northeast and Northwest regions, Ha Giang held thematic seminars on cross-border economic development, tourism development and agricultural restructuring, which were attended by officials, specialists, scientists and business executives.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc noted that Ha Giang province in particular and other provinces in the region in general will face numerous difficulties and challenges in the coming time because of influxes of foreign goods. How can the province promote comparative advantages to turn advantages into competitive strength and enlist cooperation with central and local authorities to improve the quality of human resources?
He told Ha Giang province and other provinces in the region to strengthen connectivity in economic development, ensure national defence, build border peace and friendship, introduce border trade policies, facilitate importers, study Chinese market for mutual benefits, complete product development and poverty reduction plans, focus on preserving biodiversity, cultural and ethnic characteristics, promoting green growth value, and speed up public administration reform to enhance competitiveness. He also told central agencies to study and propose recommendations at conferences and advise the Government on specific policies for Ha Giang province.
Mr Trieu Tai Vinh, Secretary of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee, said Ha Giang province has organised many seminars and identified potential development advantages. The province determines its development on “one axis, two directions” standpoints like linking Northeast to Northwest and forming Ha Giang - Tuyen Quang - Vinh Phuc route to Wenshan (China).
At theme-based conferences, scientists focused on clarifying the position and role of cross-border trade development in recent years; introducing solutions for cross-border trade development; assessing and unlocking tourism potential; developing tourism products and souvenirs; and developing agriculture, pharmaceutical production and cow farming in four upland districts.
