DPM Welcomed by Singaporean PM

Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted the achievements in Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership relations at a meeting on May 12.
The Singaporean PM said he welcomed PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s future visit and participation in the 50th anniversary of the National Day of Singapore (August 9, 2015) and revealed that Singaporean Deputy PM Teo Chee Hean will visit Vietnam this year.
 
Deputy PM Phuc proposed Singapore to encourage investments into key areas in Vietnam such as infrastructure, manufacturing, high technology, lodging services, tourism, auxiliary industry, energy and oil and gas.
 
He suggested Singapore strengthen cooperation with localities in Vietnam, especially those with tourism potential such as the island districts of Phu Quoc and Ly Son.
The Singaporean PM lauded the two nations’ cooperation in economics, trade and investment, including the successful operation of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks.
 
Singapore is ready to provide technical assistance to improve and develop human resources in Vietnam, he added.
 
Regarding the international and regional issues, the two sides highly valued the positive and effective cooperation at multi-lateral forums, consenting that marine peace, security and safety in the Eat Sea is mutual benefits of ASEAN and the region.
 
ASEAN needs to bring into full play its role in dealing with issues related to peace and stability, dealing with disputes through peaceful measures, based on international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 as well as fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and working towards a future Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).
 
Deputy PM Phuc conveyed PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s invitation to the Singaporean PM to pay an official visit to Vietnam and he accepted.
 
Earlier on May 11, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Singaporean Deputy PM Teo Chee Hean.
