Sao Mai Group was honoured to be awarded the Third-class Labour Order by the President of Vietnam in early 2016. The title reconfirmed the stature and name of Sao Mai Group, the interpretation of excellent vision and speedy business growth of the group. This is a well-deserved recognition of its endeavours over the past 19 years.
The success or failure of a business is measured by operation results and resources but the long-term development depends largely on the strategy and vision of such business. Indeed, Sao Mai Group has proved for its exceptional vision of “giving up the big to pick up the small.” While many investors were rushing to pour money into major cities, Sao Mai Group chose to go to smaller markets like An Giang, Ca Mau, Vung Tau and Thanh Hoa. After many years, the lacklustre of property market in major cities demonstrated the far-sighted vision of the leadership of the Group.
With a right foresight and valuable experience in designing, construction and installation in the Mekong Delta, Sao Mai has got a firm safety cushion to step into real estate business. Many impressive large-scaled projects have been carried out in 12 provinces and cities.
In addition, the leadership quickly applied the business philosophy of “Never put all your eggs in one basket” for the company. Following this business philosophy, Sao Mai Group has left its marks on projects across the country.
Currently, the group is running 23-hectare Vam Cong Industrial Complex in Dong Thap province, set up in 2007. This place is given to Sao Mai subsidiaries and associated companies to farm, process and export catfish. With its efforts, Sao Mai Group has become one of five largest pangasius processing exporters in Vietnam.
| Sao Mai Group now has 13 member companies with a combined registered capital of over VND5,300 billion and more than 7,000 employees. The Group has seen miraculous transformation in its operating fields and above all has excellent vision of the leadership of Sao Mai Group. |
Remarkably, the group successfully transformed little-valued catfish fat into valuable cooking oil, Ranee. This unique product impressed the market because valuable nutrients were extracted and refined by modern technologies from Europe and the oil was recommended for consumption by the National Institute of Nutrition. For years, the premium cooking oil has been voted as Vietnamese high quality product by consumers for years.
Sao Mai Group also redirected its vision to tourism. The successful takeovers of many travel companies in the Mekong Delta and resorts in Vung Tau, Phu Quoc and others has given Sao Mai Group a long stride in business development towards diversification. That breakthrough brought Sao Mai Group to the list of 50 fastest growing companies in Vietnam in many years. The company has long been among 1,000 largest taxpayers in the country.
After 19 years of effort, Sao Mai Group has now become a shining star on the business space. Not only securing a top position in business fields it engages, the company integrates its prestige and name into corporate social responsibility. The firm has launched many charitable and social security programmes like giving New Year gifts to the poor in the Mekong Delta, handing scholarships to students, presenting houses to the poor, and funding social community events all over the country.
