Vinh Phuc province's friendly cooperation with South Korean localities, including Chungcheongbuk-do province, has been increasingly consolidated in all fields, thus helping the province to attract more investment capital from South Korea and cultivate good friendships between Vietnam and Korea.
An MoU signed by the leaders of Vinh Phuc province and Chungcheongbuk-do province
On October 21, 2008, Vinh Phuc and Chungcheongbuk-do signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of the cooperative relationship, opening a development period for friendly ties between the two provinces. In particular, in October 2013, during the friendship visit to Vinh Phuc province by the high-ranking delegation of Chungcheongbuk-do province, the two signed an agreement to upgrade their twinning friendship. Since then, their leaders have regularly directed relevant agencies to actively advise and effectively implement their agreements, enabling the two provinces to grow their rising prosperity and deepen their friendship and cooperation and boost the strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea.
Currently, four companies from Chungcheongbuk-do province are investing some US$360 million in Vinh Phuc province, employing about 10,000 workers and making positive contributions to local social security and socio-economic development. Chungcheongbuk-do presented agricultural machines and trained agricultural officers for Vinh Phuc. The two provinces also supported their skilled beekeeping farmers in Quang Son commune, Lap Thach district of Vinh Phuc to work in Chungju bee village of Chungcheongbuk-do. In addition, official cooperation and exchange programs have helped many officers of agencies and companies in the two provinces to learn the Korean and Vietnamese languages. Chungcheongbuk-do also funded Vinh Phuc officials to attend courses on local public administration in South Korea.
On May 30, 2023, Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Vinh Phuc-Chungcheongbuk friendly cooperation. Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee Le Duy Thanh affirmed that the meeting is an opportunity for the two provinces to look back on the 15 years of cooperation and development since the establishment of their official cooperation relations, thus strengthening, consolidating and deepening their cooperation ties in the coming time. This is also an opportunity for Vinh Phuc to recognize the contributions of South Korean entrepreneurs and businesses to its development, hence creating an important premise for it to further boost its cooperation with Chungcheongbuk-do.
He hoped that leaders of the two provinces will regularly direct relevant agencies to actively advise and effectively implement their agreements, further grow their development and prosperity and help deepen friendship, cooperation and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea
Mr. Hwang Young Ho, Chairman of Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Council, affirmed that since they established friendly cooperation in 2008, the two provinces have actively carried out exchange and cooperation activities in many fields. Currently, the relationship between Vietnam and Korea has been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership, so Chungcheongbuk-do and Vinh Phuc need to work together to actively promote more cooperation fields and lift cooperation contents to new highs.
In the coming time, the two provinces will continue to keep information exchanges and official exchanges in order to promptly provide their socioeconomic development situations for each other to work out suitable friendly cooperation policies for each period; regularly organize joint professional events and exchange experiences in council organization and operation at all levels. They will expand cooperation in economy, investment, trade, culture, sports, tourism, education, health, science, agriculture and labor; foster labor cooperation, exchange and recommendation to Chungcheongbuk-do and continue official exchange programs.
