On March 6, 2026, Honda Vietnam Co., Ltd. held a ceremony to mark its 30th anniversary, attended by central and local leaders as well as representatives of international partners.

A leading enterprise in automobile and motorcycle industry

As one of Japan’s major corporations investing in manufacturing in Vietnam since 1996, Honda Vietnam has, over 30 years of growth, become one of the country’s leading manufacturers and assemblers of automobiles and motorcycles.

Honda Vietnam currently has total investment capital of about US$627 million, with a production system that includes three motorcycle plants, one automobile plant, and two safe-driving training centers. The company has continued expanding production capacity, applying advanced and environmentally friendly technologies, while diversifying its products and increasing localization in line with Honda’s global quality standards.

Honda Vietnam’s production activities not only meet domestic market demand but have also gradually expanded exports, helping Vietnam’s automobile and motorcycle industry integrate more deeply into global value chains.

Speaking at the ceremony, Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Tran Duy Dong said the 30th anniversary of Honda Vietnam took place as Vietnam enters a new stage of development with the aspiration to build a strong and prosperous nation. The event also carried special meaning as it was held when Vietnam and Japan mark two years since upgrading their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.

At present, Japan is among Vietnam’s leading economic partners, ranking first in ODA cooperation and labor, third in investment, and fourth in trade and tourism.

In Phu Tho Province alone, as of February 2026, Japan had 77 investment projects with total registered capital exceeding US$1.4 billion. Japanese enterprises, including Honda Vietnam, are widely recognized for complying with Vietnamese law while actively fulfilling corporate social responsibility.

Supporting industrial and human resource development

In recognition of Honda Vietnam’s contributions, Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Tran Duy Dong said the company has played an important role in the province’s socio-economic development.

First, Honda Vietnam is among the leading contributors to the local budget, supporting the province’s economic growth. At the same time, the company has created tens of thousands of stable jobs, while promoting technology transfer, supporting-industry development, and the spread of modern management practices and a professional working culture.

Beyond its business operations, Honda Vietnam has also taken part in social welfare programs, supported education, assisted in recovery from disasters and epidemics, and carried out programs to raise public awareness of traffic safety.

Honda Vietnam’s success has become a representative model in attracting foreign investment while also strengthening friendship and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

In its development strategy for the coming period, Phu Tho Province has identified three strategic breakthroughs to create a favorable environment for enterprises and investors. These include accelerating administrative reform, with priority on administrative procedures and the introduction of a “green lane” mechanism to support businesses; developing high-quality human resources, particularly for the private sector and FDI enterprises; and building a synchronized and modern socio-economic infrastructure system, prioritizing transport, logistics, energy, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure serving production.

Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Tran Duy Dong expressed the hope that Honda Vietnam will continue to lead in researching, developing, and producing environmentally friendly electric and hybrid vehicles in the Vietnamese market, contributing to the implementation of the net-zero emissions commitment.

At the same time, the company should continue increasing the localization rate in automobile manufacturing, supporting the province’s supporting-industry enterprises to participate more deeply in Honda’s supply chain. In addition, stronger links with local training institutions are encouraged to develop a workforce meeting international standards, while also serving as a bridge to attract satellite enterprises and Japanese investors to explore and invest in Phu Tho, particularly in high-tech and semiconductor industries.
