Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia will jointly organize the third International Travel Expo 2007 (ITE-Ho Chi Minh City 2007) in Ho Chi Minh City in October next year, aiming at promoting tourism potentials in the three Indochinese countries.

Themed “Three Countries, One Destination”, the Expo 2007 will focus on three main issues: making a common kiosk of the three countries; organizing a seminar to introduce Indochina adventure tourism programs by land, sea and air; and publicizing the cultural values of the three countries.

With a wish to promote tourism outside the region, the organizing board hopes the ITE-Ho Chi Minh City 2007 will be able to attract visitors from such potential tourist markets as Europe, Australia, Japan and South Korea to Ho Chi Minh City and to the three countries in Indochina.

“We will promote a circle of tourist destinations in the three countries to attract international tourists,” La Quoc Khanh, deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department said, adding that the participation of the three nations’ tourism agencies would help attract tourists from even distant places like the US and EU.

ITE-Ho Chi Minh City 2006, which was held on August 4-6, was attended by 10,000 visitors and 140 local and foreign exhibitors, a 30 per cent increase compared with the 2005 event.
Vietnam welcomed more than 141,500 tourists from Laos and Cambodia in the first seven months of this year.
