Green Rice Paddy Tourism in ThaiBinhProvince

Thai Binh has great potential for historical, cultural and eco- tourism with the typical characteristics of the northern rice cultivation plain.
 
Hundreds of the cultural ,architectural ,graded structures such as Tran Temple, Le Qui Don Shrine ,Keo Pagoda ,Uncle Ho Memorial House ,Dong Bang Temple ,Tien La Temple and over eighty interesting village festivals ,16 kinds of songs, dances ,games such as Cheo singing ,water puppetry ,Bat Dap dances are among potentialities for the cultural tourism development.
Thai Binh is well known for its garden villages and flower and bonsai villages such as Bach Thuan , Dong Hoa garden villages and 173 craft villages ,including long traditional craft villages such as Dong Xam silver carving village ,An Le mat making village, Nam Cao textile village, Minh Lang embroidery village, Thuong Hien bamboo and rattan weaving village with products requiring surprisingly sophisticated skills .
 
The landscape is spectacular, featuring the natural beauty of a coastal plain with fresh air, unpolluted environment and balanced ecology. Coastal islands are home to many rare and precious birds and they are also the wildlife preserves and safe, white sand beaches attracted to tourists. The dense system of rivers and canals winds their ways though vast green fields and villages of fruit trees and bonsai, deeply featuring the Red River delta.
 
The long tradition of the dam building to push back the sea; intensive cultivation ;rice paddy planning ,the image of water rice in combination with the country sight: banyan tree-water port-commune house ‘s court, the several generations - living –together- tradition ,dinner with members of four generators are the distinguishing features of Thai Binh’s water rice culture.
Being aware of these potentials ,for the last few years Thai Binh Tourism has decided to develop the tourism into a key economic sector ,helping shift the economy positively Thanks to its budget, Thai Binh has constructed tourist sites ,issued many favorable policies to boost the tourism investment. To date, the tourism infrastructure has, step by step, been upgraded and modernized.
 
The province has 60 hotels and guest houses with 854 rooms. The period 2001 -2005 saw the revenue growth of 21.3 per cent annually. The year 2005 welcomed 185,000 visitors to Thai Binh with the revenue of VND 56 billion .Toward 2010 Thai Binh Tourism aims to receive 680,000 tourists, including 10,000 international tourists and 670,000 domestic tourists, earning US$ 22 million with an annual growth rate of 10 per cent.
 
To have better service, Thai Binh has developed various fascinating kinds of tourism such as eco- tourism, traditional craft village tourism, culture and festival tourism, agricultural tourism, river tourism, countryside tourism and health care tourism with healthy herbal food.
