Vietnamese Hotel Listed among World's Best in 2006
The five-star Sofitel Metropole Hanoi has been listed among the best hotels in the world in 2006 by the prestigious US-based Conde Nast Traveller and Travel + Leisure magazine.
Its ranking is based on the votes of 200,000 readers worldwide, Gilles Cretallaz, General Director of the hotel said, revealing that it is the world’s most famous travel magazine, delivering entertaining travel reporting, quick access to destination facts and hot travel deals.
The ranking was allegedly attributed to the higher number of satisfied travelers as well as exceptional services.
Other top positions have not been made public at the moment.
Gilles Cretallaz revealed Sofitel Metropole Hanoi Hotel slipped out of the Top 100 World Best Hotels in 2005. This also made the city lose its appeal to international tourists as it dropped to the fifth position in 2005 from fourth in 2004 and second in 2003 in Asia’s Best ranking by the magazine.
"I am very proud of it," he smiled, noting that the honorable ranking will help his hotel strongly prove its position in Vietnam.
Hanoi now has more than 400 hotels, including 100 hotels of one to five star standards. Its nine five star hotels are the Sofitel Metropole Hotel, Daewoo Hotel, Somerset West Lake, Nikko Hotel, Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, Hilton Hotel, Horison Hotel, Sofitel Plaza, Melia Hanoi, and Sheraton Hanoi Hotel.
