Vietnam's WTO Action Plan Launched
Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the post-WTO action plan restructuring state organs and ensuring sustainable economic growth, local Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported Tuesday.
The 12-task plan will focus on speeding up administrative reform and boosting the effectiveness of economic integration by restructuring state organizations to eliminate functional loopholes.
Vietnamese government leaders also asked for completed legal frameworks for labor, real estate, financial, monetary, science and technology markets, and particularly to conduct general inspections to end wrongful use and allocation of land.
In terms of education and training, the Vietnamese government is expected to work out measures and policies to encourage economic sectors including foreign investors to take part in various models.
PM recently okayed the establishment of the country’s WTO mission including representatives from relevant ministries tasked to take part in WTO activities, particularly negotiation rounds, and play a bridging role helping to settle any trade disputes between Vietnamese businesses and foreign counterparts in the interest of the country and domestic businesses.
The Foreign Ministry of Vietnam is now hurrying to nominate an ambassador to the WTO who will lead the mission.
The Trade Ministry sent letters to organizations, enterprises and individuals, asking them to give opinions on issues relating to negotiations and talks with countries and territories negotiating for WTO accession.
Since Vietnam became a full WTO member Jan 11, it assumed the task to hold talks with countries and territories negotiating for WTO accession.
Currently, 28 countries and territories are negotiating to become members of the WTO. (Youth, VNA)
