From March 15-17, 2007, HQ Link (Singapore) will co-operate with VINEXAD to organise a series of exhibitions at the Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition and Convention Centre (HIECC). Vietnam Business Forum interviewed Simon Ng, general director of HQ Link.
What is the purpose of the HQ Link organised exhibitions in early 2007?
This is an annual exhibition HQ Link organises in March. Alongside Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Vietnam is considered one of the fastest developing economies in the region. Apart from two annual exhibitions, PSV and HVACR, HQ Link in 2007 will launch Projects Vietnam, an exhibition of project and equipment systems to meet the increasingly booming infrastructure facility demand in Vietnam. The exhibition will attract equipment manufacturers and suppliers from different countries in the world to Vietnam, creating opportunities for Vietnamese and foreign enterprises to meet and promote their trade relations.
Why did HQ Link choose VINEXAD as a partner to organise exhibitions instead of organising events by itself? Will HQ Link co-operate with other companies to organise exhibitions in the future? Why does HQ Link organise an exhibition in three fields?
HQ Link has chosen VINEXAD as a partner as HQ Link has developed good relations with the company. We share business objectives and benefits. In the future, we will continue long-term co-operation with VINEXAD.
HQ Link decided to organise an exhibition with three fields as they are closely related and supplement each other. For example, the processing industry and infrastructure will be two important fields in the exhibition.
What do you think about the investment environment, policies and legal corridor of Vietnam toward exhibition organisation companies, like HQ Link?
In terms of the investment environment, policies and legal corridor, I think the Vietnamese Government has made great efforts to improve policies, encouraging foreign invested enterprises to boost their investment activities in Vietnam. HQ Link, like many other foreign enterprises, will have more opportunities to expand business activities, organising more important exhibitions.
In 2007, how many exhibitions will HQ Link organise in Vietnam and which fields will your company will focus on?
In 2007, HQ Link will organise the above-mentioned exhibitions. I would like to add that the exhibition series will be held annually.
Followings are ideas of leaders of enterprises attending this event:
Le Thanh Anh Vu, marketing manager of Fusheng Vietnam
We highly appreciate HQ Link’s organisation of the exhibition, which will offer us more business opportunities. Also, we will be able to directly contact customers, helping us learn about their demand. Furthermore, we can access modern technologies, exchange ideas and experience with foreign enterprises.
However, we would be even more appreciative if HQ Link organised specialised exhibitions for enterprises to identify the demand of customers via the number of visitors to the exhibitions.
Nguyen Van Tho, director of the Thai Duong Rubber JS Company
In my opinion, the exhibition acts as a link between producers and customers, as well as between producers of different countries. This will help enterprises expand their markets, develop business strategies and boost co-operative ties. Therefore, we want to join exhibitions of this kind to introduce and promote our products to Vietnamese and foreign customers. We specialise in making rubber products for water drainage in Australia, dog toys for the US, nipples for Germany’s animal husbandry, and other products for electronic manufacturers such as Samsung and Panasonic. I would like to take this forum to express our wish that the State will create policies developing chemical technology, thus helping us reduce our dependence on foreign enterprises.
Also, we would like to propose city authorities form a specialised industrial complex for dyeing, rubber and seafood processing, to protect the environment.
Dao Ngoc Dong, director of the Dao Nguyen Company
We have participated many mechanical, electrical and waste water treatment exhibitions. This year, we introduce two products made in Switzerland and Singapore to target customers.
HQ Link is a prestigious, professional exhibition organiser. However, it is a disadvantage for Vietnamese enterprises when they have to pay the costs of attending exhibitions organised in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Singaporean enterprises receive support, equal to 50 per cent of costs, from the Government, which is paid after the exhibition.
Truong Tri Quang, director of A Ra Company
We specialise in trading air-compressor accessories and spare parts, which are different from consumer goods. Therefore, participation in the HQ Link-organised exhibition will benefit our business. This year, we will attend some more specialised exhibitions, as three days for an exhibition is quite short. I would like to say that if Vietnamese exhibition organising enterprises and authorised agencies organise exhibitions similar to HQ Link-organised ones, we and many Vietnamese enterprises will certainly welcome and highly appreciate them.
Pham Kim Tan, sales and technical manager of Asia Star Industry Company
We specialise in implementing systems for the gas industry. Attending the exhibition is an opportunity for us to introduce our brand to customers and partners. We hope that via the exhibition, our brand Yes Gas will become more popular in the market. At present, we are the only company in Vietnam to manufacture and install centrally-controlled gas systems for high-rise blocks of flats, also providing gas basins for factories and plants.
We join the exhibition as we think it is a well-prepared, professional, international event by HQ Link.
