Motorbike Industry Generates US$1.2-1.4Bln Revenues

Motorbike companies annually earn US$1.2-1.4 billion from sales of around two million units, according to the Ministry of Industry.
 
The Vietnamese motorbike market holds great potential, experts said.
 
The nation’s total motorcycle numbers will reach 25 million units by 2010, from the current 18 million units.
 
The number will reach 31 million units in 2015, and 35 million units by 2020.
 
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the two biggest cities in the country, have reached a ratio of 2 persons/motorbike, followed by Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Duong provinces with three persons/motorbike ratio. Meanwhile, the national average is at six persons/motorbike.
 
The demand in the coming time will be in rural areas, experts added.
 
Vietnam expects to become a motorcycle supplier for the Asian region, with export earnings of $300 million by 2010, $500 million by 2015 and $800 million by 2020. (VNN)
