Vietnam Seafood Firms Eyeing EU Opportunities
Thirty-two major Vietnamese seafood businesses will participate in the European Seafood Exposition 2007 (ESE) to be held in Brussels Belgium, April 24-26, according to the Ministry of Fisheries (MoF).
The delegation, including 110 members, will be led by the General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Seeking partners for more trade opportunities in the European market will be one target of the delegation at the world’s largest seafood fair.
The number of Vietnamese businesses participating in ESE doubled from 2005.
Vietnamese businesses will display and seek orders for main products including tiger prawns, clawed crayfish, sea-fish, tra and basa catfish, as well as dried and canned products, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
On the sidelines of the fair, VASEP is expected to coordinate with the Dutch Embassy in Vietnam to survey the Netherlands’ market in order to boost cooperative, business and investment ties between seafood processors of the two countries.
ESE is an event that brings together seafood buyers and sellers from all over the world. With over 1,600 exhibitors from more than 76 countries and territories worldwide, ESE 2007 is expected to offer seafood business professionals access to a one-stop resource to reach global retail, wholesale and food service companies.
Vietnam’s burgeoning fisheries sector expects to reach export turnover of US$3.6 billion in 2007, a year-on-year increase of 7 per cent. (Vietnam & World Economy)
