Apparel Accessory Exports Hit US$130Mln in First Quarter

Exports of suitcases, bags, hats and umbrellas brought Vietnam around US$130 million in the first quarter of this year, an on-year increase of 12 per cent.
 
In February alone, shipments of these products fetched nearly US$38.5 million, up 37 per cent on-year, reported the Ministry of Trade.
 
Canvas bags and knapsacks saw the largest increases in both volume and value, at 497.3 and 210.6 per cent respectively, compared with beginning of the year. They were followed by protective gloves rising 64.2 per cent in volume and 54 per cent in value.
 
The United States, the European Union and Japan remain Vietnam’s largest markets for the products. (Vietnam & World Economy)
