The 6th annual Vietnam Banking Conference & Exposition, or Banking Vietnam 2007, will open in Hanoi from May 30 to June 1, under the theme “Vietnam: modern banking system and international economic integration.”

The biggest banking expo is jointly organized by the Informatics Technology Department of the State Bank of Vietnam and the International Data Group in Vietnam (IDG Vietnam), aiming to boost IT application and the renovation of Vietnam’s banking industry.

The event is expected to create an open, international forum for foreign and local managers, scientists, IT providers and experts to meet, share experience and seek trading partners.

The event includes banking technology discussions about non-cash payments, expansion in e-banking services towards international integration, modernization of the payment system, banking transaction safety and security, and modernization of the monetary market and the relationship between banking activities and the stock market.

At Banking Vietnam 2007, a round-table discussion will also be held under the chairmanship of Phung Khac Ke, deputy governor of the State Bank, focusing on issues like gaining a competitive advantage with banking technology, banking system modernization, banking information system security, and technology application to open retail banking services.
