Vietnam Okays US$36Mln US-Invested Semiconductor Center
US-based Global Equipment Services & Manufacturing Inc. has recently got license to set up a semiconductor technology center worth US$36 million in Ho Chi Minh City’s Saigon Hi-Tech Park, state media reported.
The 6,000 sq.m center, scheduled to open in September 2008, will design, manufacture, and upgrade semiconductor equipment and undertake warranty services, it said.
Its output will be shipped to Asian countries, the EU, and the US.
GES’s strategy is in tune with the park’s plans to develop production and service facilities to support the semiconductor industry, with a US$1 billion chip assembly and testing plant being developed by Intel by mid-2009. (VNA, Investment)
