The United States Ex-Im Bank Chairman and President James Lambright arrived in Ho Chi Minh City during his short tour from Aug 20-22 to seek opportunities to invest in the city, Vietnam News Agency reported.

J. Lambright showed his great interest in driving forces that has fuelled the developing country’s high GDP growth and its increasing trade with the US from 2001 until now.

US Eximbank will provide credit insurance for infrastructure investors, regardless of state-owned or private businesses, J. Lambright said during the talks with Ho Chi Minh City’s Mayor, Le Hoang Quan.

Mayor Quan specified the city’s infrastructure projects toward 2015 and 2020 including Metro, monorail and belt roads with a combined capital of US$25 billion.

Expressing his satisfaction about credit insurance for Vietnam Airlines in buying Boeing aircraft, J Lambright noted Eximbank will be supporting similar projects. (VNA)
