Foreign Businesses Keen on Vietnam Int'l Agri Fair in Late September
More than 140 businesses, including 20 from China, the US, UK, France, Belgium and the Republic of Korea, have registered to participate in Vietnam’s International Agricultural Fair (AgroViet 2007), organizers have said.
Nguyen Van Thang, director of the Agricultural Fair-Exposition said that the event slated for Sep 26 to 30 in Hanoi aims to promote Vietnamese farm produces to foreign participants.
Vietnam’s technological achievements in agriculture and honor outstanding enterprises, high quality farm produces and prestigious trademarks will be showcased, Thang said.
Festivals, symposiums and activities on foreign investment promotion in regard to agriculture are to be included in the agenda.
AgroViet 2006 also took place in Hanoi city from September 14 to 18. The fair attracted more than 100 businesses from Vietnam, Belgium, Algeria, China and the US.
Vietnam earned US$5.674 billion from farm produce and forestry products exports in the first eight months of 2007.
The figure is likely to reach US$8 billion by the end of this year, up from the target of USUS$7.4 billion set by the government earlier this year, thanks to better world market agricultural product prices, said a Ministry of Trade (MoT) official. (Vietnam & World Economy)
