Vietnam Cities Named among Top Global IT Destinations
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, the two biggest cities of Vietnam, have recently been listed among the world’s top outsourcing destinations, according to a study revealed by Global Services magazine.
Ho Chi Minh City ranked sixth and Hanoi 12th in the list of the top 15 cities worldwide.
The study showed that Asia region, including Vietnam and East Europe have emerged as the favored destinations for information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO), with 19 Asian and 12 East and Central European nations dominating the list of the top 50 emerging outsourcing cities globally.
The study lists Bangalore, New Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), Manila NCR, Mumbai and Dublin as the top five cities that have established themselves as prime outsourcing cities by servicing the global corporate world for over a decade.
Vietnam has been regarded the second fastest growing telecom market in ASEAN. Over 40 million people gain access to the telephone and 17 per cent of its population currently uses the Internet.
According to the GFK Vietnam market research company, the country’s revenue from telecom, information technology and the electronics market would bring in close to US$3.5 billion this year and between US$6 billion and US$7 billion by 2010. (Young People, Liberated Saigon)
