Indochina Tourism Ministerial Meeting Opens in HCM City

High-ranking tourism officials from three Indochinese nations, including Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam will gather at the Indochina Tourism Ministerial Meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on October 4 in the hope of closer tourism cooperation in the upcoming time, state media said.
 
This is the first session of these tourism officials to implement the instruction of the Prime Ministers of the three countries on cooperation to turn the three nations into attractive tourist destinations.
 
During the two-day session, tourism officials will discuss the cooperation mechanism among the three countries and seek practical measures, and projects to develop tourism potentials of each country.
 
Tourism leaders of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam will also sign a declaration on strengthening cooperation in tourism October 5.
 
In the coming time, the three sides will join hands to carry out the “Three countries – one destination” program, to propose some projects to international tourism organizations and international donors like UNWTO, ADB, AJC and JICA.
 
The meeting drew the participation of more than 60 representatives from domestic and foreign tourism agencies.
 
Statistics from the Pacific Asia Travel Association issued this month show that international tourism arrivals on-year to date are growing at a rate of over 22 per cent into Cambodia, 14 per cent into Vietnam and 20 per cent into Laos.
 
Vietnam welcomed more than 140,000 arrivals from Laos and Cambodia in the first nine months of this year. (The People, Communist Party of Vietnam’s Website)
