Central City Targets 2 Mln Tourist Arrivals by 2010

The central Danang City has set the target to welcome two million visitors in 2010, posting an annual growth rate of 27 per cent, according to the municipal department of tourism.
 
The target is pursuant to the city’s program on tourism development for the 2007-2010 period approved by the municipal People’s Committee.
 
Accordingly, the city also aims to increase hospitality revenues by 29 per cent annually over the same period.
 
The city will upgrade existing tourism facilities and foster the implementation of large new tourism projects, including a plan to provide holiday-makers with up to 7,000 hotel rooms in the next four years.
 
In addition to diversifying tourist attractions, Danang will also reward domestic and international tourist agencies who help attract a large number of visitors.
 
The local authorities will continue to focus on tourism promotion and marketing, as well as on boosting employment in the tourism sector to meet the increased demand for workers indicated by the goals for 2010.
 
Danang, some 758 km south of Hanoi and 970 km north of Ho Chi Minh City is endowed with enormous tourist potential owing to the advantages of geography climate history economy and culture.
 
The city plans to receive more than one million holiday visitors by the year’s end, generating over VND2.1 trillion (US$131 million) from tourism services. (VNA)
