Vietnam Joins Int'l Tourism Fair in Japan
Nine travel agencies of Vietnam have taken part in an international tourism and travel fair in Japan in an effort to bolster the number of visitors from the Land of the Rising Sun.
The fair, which took place in Tokyo, attracted businesses from 134 countries and territories worldwide.
During the event, Vietnam showcased its tourism products and the country’s image to friends worldwide. The communist country also introduced incentives of the government to investors who want to pour money into tourism projects in Vietnam.
Pham Huu Minh, Director of the Tourism Promotion Department from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said Japan is now one of four biggest markets of Vietnam tourism with the average growth of around 15 per cent.
“Vietnam is launching promotion activities to lure Japanese tourist arrivals and foreign vacationers,” Minh said, noting the local tourism sector is facing difficulties, including the shortage of information provided in Japanese and Japanese-speaking tour guides.
Vietnam welcomed 270,000 Japanese tourists in the first eight months of this year, up 15 per cent on-year. The figure is expected to reach 420,000 by the end of this year.
Vietnam has set a target of welcoming 500,000 Japanese visitors by 2010. (Vietnam & World Economy)
