The biggest-ever Canadian gastronomy festival will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, the most attractive place of internet in southern Vietnam, later this month, said William Johnston, Consul General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City.
Titled “Flavors of Canada”, the event will present the best of Canadian beef, seafood and wines at the Olivier Restaurant, Sofitel Plaza Saigon, from September 17-22.
The highlight of the event is the Canadian Gala Dinner on September 19 in the Ballroom of Sofitel Plaza Saison, Mr. William Johnston said, revealing that this is the second Canadian food promotion event in Ho Chi Minh City.
“The Canadian trade team in Vietnam is proud and delighted to offer the public in Ho Chi Minh City an opportunity to experience the finest Canadian beef, wine, and seafood,” remarked Consul General William Johnston.
“Canada has the crucial ingredients to be Vietnam’s supplier of quality agriculture, food and beverage products: a clean environment, plentiful land, world-class agricultural practices, and high standards for food inspection and regulation. We want delicious, safe, healthy Canadian foodstuffs and beverages to become part of the modern Vietnamese fine dining culture and lifestyle,” he added.
These promotions have helped to familiarize Vietnamese buyers to the high quality of Canadian food. Vietnam has become a truly viable market for Canada, with US$90 million in agricultural goods sales in 2006.
Last year, Canada also held two similar events in Hanoi. (Nhan Dan Online)
