Rubber Export down 1.6 per cent in Jan-September
Vietnam is estimated to have shipped 497,000 tons of rubber abroad in the past nine months of this year, earning US$937 million, down by 1.6 per cent on year in terms of both value and volume, the General Statistics Office’s report showed.
In Sept alone, the country exported 75,000 tons, valued at US$143 million, up 6.7 per cent on month in volume but unchanged in value.
According to local experts, the fall of rubber revenue is attributed by the shrink of Vietnam’s rubber export price to China, its biggest importer, during the past months.
The price experienced a long-time fall since early this year and even dropped to US$1,462 and US$1,595 a ton in mid-September. It rose to US$2,122 a ton last month but the price is still much lower than that of last year, which stood at nearly US$2,900 a ton.
Experts forecast that the export price will soar in the coming weeks but not surpass US$2,129 a ton.
Presently, prices of Vietnamese rubber companies’ shares are rebounding at local securities exchanges. Danang Rubber Co.’s share (DRC) is traded at VND143,000 each; Hoa Binh Rubber Co’s share is VND190,000 while Tay Ninh Rubber Co.’s share, VND51,500. (GSO Sept Edition)
