Int'l Tourist Arrivals to HCMC to Hit 2.65 Mln This Year

International tourist arrivals to Ho Chi Minh City, the leading tourism hub of Vietnam, will reach 2.65 million in 2007, an increase of 12 per cent on-year, the local Thanh Nien reported.
 
Tourism revenue for the year will hit VND19.5 trillion (US$1.21 billion), up 20 per cent over 2006, the municipal department of tourism said.
 
Topping the list of visitors will be the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, China, Singapore, France and Malaysia, according to the department.
 
HCM City has an additional 118 hotels with more than 2,500 rooms this year meeting great demands of travelers.
 
Currently, the city has highest number of luxury hotels in Vietnam with 150 hotels, including ten five-star and four four-star hotels with 10,000 rooms. The city also reports 304 travel companies, including 120 licensed to provide outbound tours.
The number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City accounts for 55 per cent of Vietnam's total number. (Young People)
