Vietnam Imports US$3.98 Bln of Cloth in 2007
Vietnamese apparel makers reportedly imported US$3.98 billion worth of cloth in 2007, up 33.6 per cent on year, said the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Up to 31 per cent of the total these input materials, valued at US$1.35 billion, up 51.8 per cent on year in value, came from Chinese providers thanks to affordable prices and diversified designs, the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper cited the ministry as saying.
The second and third supplier groups were South Korea and Taiwan with total value of US$817 million and US$703 million, respectively.
In 2007, Vietnam apparel businesses were estimated to export US$7.78 billion of products, up 33.8 per cent on year, said the General Statistics Office. (Vietnam Economic Times, GSO Dec 2007)
