Work to Start on US$312.5-Mln Tourism Project in North Late Q2

Tuan Chau Ha Tay Joint Stock Company said that it will start construction of a tourism project worth VND5 trillion (US$312.5 million) in northern Ha Tay province late this second quarter, the local Young People newspaper reported.
 
The Tuan Chau Ha Tay Eco-tourism Resort will be located on a site of 254 hectares in Quoc Oai district.
 
The project will include a 93-hectare golf course; a 21-hectare entertainment area near Thay Pagoda; an 180,000-square meter international trade center, the largest in Vietnam; hi-end apartments and many others.
 
Construction on the largest investment project in Ha Tay is slated for completion in 2010.
 
Ha Tay owns many advantages for tourism development as it is adjacent to the capital city of Hanoi and is home to many traditional handicraft villages. It also houses 22 landscapes, including Huong Pagoda, Dong Mo, Suoi Hai, Ba Vi and Huong Son.
 
The tourism development is considered Ha Tay’s key economic sector, particularly eco-tourism area, which is targeted to account for 35 per cent of the province’s total number of visitors by 2010.
 
In 2007, Ha Tay province attracted VND16.3 trillion (over US$1 billion) from domestic investors.
 
Ha Tay province has made a great improvement in its competitiveness last year the Provincial Competitiveness Index as it has jumped to 41st place from 62nd in 2006. (Young People)
