U.S. Remains Vietnam's Biggest Cashew Importer in 2007

The continued surpassing 78 countries in the world to keep its biggest importer position of Vietnamese cashew nuts in 2007, said the Trade Information Center under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The imported 52,900 tons of cashew nuts from , worth US$211.5 million in 2007, up 27 per cent in volume and 26 per cent in value compared to 2006.

 

The figures showed that the accounted for more than 34.8 per cent of ’s total cashew nut export volume and 32.5 per cent of export revenues. Last year, exported 151,730 tons of cashew nuts, occupying more than 50 per cent of the world’s total cashew supply.

 

Holland took the second in importing Vietnamese cashew nuts when it spent US$93 million on importing 22,600 tons, up 64.9 per cent on year in value and 77 per cent in volume.

 

was recognized as the third biggest importer with total imported volume of 26,000 tons, valued at US$89 million, decreases of 7 per cent in volume and 5 per cent in value from 2006.
