Vietnam Jan-Feb Car Sales Hit 21,000 Units, up 172 per cent on Year

Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) has announced car sales of its 17 member carmakers rose to 21,004 units in the first two months, up 172 per cent on year.
 
In February, they sold 8,920 cars, up 198 per cent over last February but down 35.4 per cent on January.
 
Vinamotor kept the largest market share for two consecutive months of 28.7 per cent with 5,354 cars sold, VAMA noted, adding that Toyota jumped up to second position with 3,305 units sold or 16 per cent of the market share.
 
Truong Hai’s car sales down turned to the third position with 3,284 vehicles or 14.3 per cent of the market shares.
 
All of the carmakers saw strong sale growth of three types of cars. They sold 13,618 units of the commercial vehicles in the two months, up 400 per cent on year, 3,984 units of SUV/MPV models, up 28 per cent on year and 4,402 units of passenger cars, up 82 per cent on year.
 
According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam imported 10,000 fully assembled vehicles valued at US$187 million in January-February, up 505 per cent on year.
 
The two months’ car parts import valued at US$204 million, the General Statistics Office said.
