Vietnam Northern Province Reports US$2 Bln FDI
The northern province of Hai Duong has so far attracted 117 foreign direct investment (FDI) project valued at over US$2 billion, said an official from the provincial Planning and Investment Department.
Of the sum, US$824.4 million, or 41.3 per cent, had been disbursed with 97 projects put into operation, said Head of the department’s External Economics Section, Nguyen Xuan Doan.
In the first three months of this year, the province pulled in US$106.4 million in FDI, including US$103.9 million coming from eight newly-licensed projects and the rest from the capital expansion of two existing projects.
FDI companies in the province obtained US$180 million revenues in the first quarter, representing an on-year rise of 60 per cent with Ford Vietnam Company, Phuc Son Cement Company and ANT Animal Feed Company ranking top.
The northern locality has set a target to absorb additional US$1 billion FDI by 2010. It is now home to seven industrial parks covering 1,500 hectares. (VNA)
