Vietnam's Exports to Japan Reach US$2.7 Bln in Jan-April
Vietnam was estimated to earn US$2.7 billion from goods exports to Japan in the first four months of this year, up 68 per cent on-year, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s website.
In April, the country’s total export value to Japan reached US$764 million, up 92 per cent on-year and 25.4 per cent on-month.
The high export growth in April was mainly driven by crude oil with US$237 million.
During the four-month span, crude oil topped the list with 1.17 million tons worth US$878.43 million.
It is followed by apparels with US$243.33 million, electric and cable wires with US$235.74 million, seafood with US$208.4 million, computers, electronics and spare parts with US$118.84 million, woodwork products with US$104.83 million and coal with US$83 million.
Japan is now Vietnam’s second biggest export market after the United States.
The two countries are striving to expand the bilateral trade to US$17 billion by 2010. The figure may climb US$18 billion by the year if the two countries sign an economic partnership agreement (EPA) soon. (Vinanet)
