Vietnam is expected to receive US$11.5 billion of FDI this year, setting a record level of FDI disbursements over the past 21 years, said Mr. Phan Huu Thang, Head of the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Department.

Thang noted that so far Vietnam has licensed US$60 billion FDI projects, which is also a record level, in fact, the Asean country is on right track in FDI attraction.

Foreign direct investments into industrial and construction projects account for 56 per cent, services 40 per cent and agro, forestry and fisheries the remainder, Thang added.

FDI-firms have contributed US$2 billion to Vietnam’s state coffer and employed 17,000 local workers.

Thang expressed his optimism about Vietnam’s FDI attraction outlook next year despite difficulties from the global downturn if the government’s measures to avert recession are effective.
