US$23.6 Bln FDI Pours into Vietnam Realty Projects in 2008: Official

Up to US$23.6 billion of foreign direct investment, or 36.8 per cent of the total was reportedly invested into real estate sector in Vietnam last year, according to Phan Huu Thang, head of the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Foreign Investment Department.
 
Almost all realty projects are effectively invested, which will create high-quality housing, tourism zones that meet international standards and generate jobs as well as contribute to the country's GDP, Thang said.
 
Thang is still upbeat about FDI attraction outlook this year.
 
Last year, Vietnam reported a record of registered FDI at US$64 billion and disbursed only US$11 billion. (CPV, Saigon Liberation)
