Vietnam is rated the third most attractive destination to Japanese investors after China and India. This is a recent survey result released by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

According to surveyed Japanese businesses, the prospect in Vietnam reduced from 35 per cent in 2007 to 32 per cent in 2008 but it was still ranked the third most favourite destination of Japanese companies, mainly thanks to its low-paid labour.

The survey also showed that electronic and electric equipment, automobile, machinery, chemical, metalware, garment, textile, precision machinery, food, oil, rubber and ferrous metal industries are very attracted to Japanese companies.

However, according to investors, the lack of qualified managers, technicians, engineers and the increasing of labour costs are the main concerns of Japanese companies.
