Japanese Parliamentarian Affirms Possible ODA Increase for Vietnam
The Japanese government’s provision of official development assistance (ODA) sources for nations is tending to decrease owing to the economic downturn, but for Vietnam alone the ODA spending may be still on the rise, a Japanese parliamentarian said Mar 9.
Vice President of Japan’s Democratic Party Okada Katsuya, who is leading a group of Japanese parliamentarians on a visit to Vietnam, made his statement at a meeting with Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai in Hanoi.
The parliamentarian told Deputy PM Hai that Tokyo always attaches Vietnam as its important partner and want to develop multifaceted bilateral ties with the Southeast Asian nation.
The Japanese group of parliamentarians expected the two governments would work more closely in managing effectively ODA sources as well as diversifying investments in fields of industry, infrastructure construction and poverty elimination.
The host, for his part, affirmed the delegation’s trip is very significant amid the Japanese side has just decided to resume its ODA provision for Vietnam.
The Deputy PM confirmed that the Vietnamese government always makes effective use of ODA capital and works closely with the Japanese Government to clarify and examine the use and management of this vital source of capital. (Youth)
