Mekong Delta Economic Forum 2009 Focuses on Human Resources

The Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum 2009 was kicked off in An Giang on May 15, concentrating on human resource development in the integration period.
 
The event was jointly organized by the steering board for the southwestern Vietnam, the Ministry of Trade, the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation and Vietnam Economic News.
 
Participants at the forum will discuss measures to develop human resources in the region through cooperation between regional training centers with national and international ones.
 
The forum will include direct dialogues between government officials and local authorities and Mekong Delta businesses.
 
It will also honor organizations and individuals with great contributions to human resource development.
 
The Mekong Delta region, which is home to 13 cities and provinces, is projected to become a major energy center in Vietnam by 2020 with three big power supply sources of O Mon, Ca Mau, and Kien Luong with a combined capacity of 9,500 MW.
 
Mekong Delta’s GDP is expected to make up 11.6 per cent and 13.3 per cent of the country’s GDP by 2010. (Investment)
