Vietnam Tourism Sector H1 Revenues Up 10 per cent at VND16T (03DT190)
Vietnam’s tourism sector made revenues of VND16 trillion (US$941.176 million) in the first six months of this year, up 10 per cent on-year despite the global economic downturn and the swine flu, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
The revenue results of the country’s tourism industry are based on its great efforts to boost the domestic tourist demand, the administration noted.
Of the revenue in the period, the hotel businesses accounted for VND12 trillion, up 12 per cent from a year ago, and tour operators made revenue of VND3.8 trillion, up 18 per cent on-year, the administration added.
Currently, tour operators have cut 10 per cent to 15 per cent from tour prices while hotels slashed room prices more than 30 per cent.
In the first half, Vietnam received 11.72 million domestic tourists, up 13 per cent on-year, it said. (Vietnam & World Report)
