Vietnam Gov't Okays Measures for Tourism Stimulus
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has approved measures to stimulate the tourism industry as proposed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Under the measures, hotel business firms and foreign tour guides working in Vietnam will be offered reduction or exemption of post and telecommunications charges.
The government has also allowed, in principle, international travel joint ventures to provide outbound tours for Vietnamese visitors and foreigners living in Vietnam.
Hotels from four stars or more are entitled to provide several entertainment services until 2 a.m. from now until 2010.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for selecting hotels for the pilot program.
Vietnam aims to attract more than 25 million tourists, including 4.3 million international visitors and to earn revenue of VND65 trillion this year. (Young People)
